Marion Lorene Waits Lynch
Marion Lorene Waits Lynch, age 95, of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, at Autumn Village in Jackson, Ga.
Marion Lynch was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. Her parents were the late Roy Columbus Waits and Mabel Carey Waits. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rogers Lynch; brothers and sisters, R. C. Waits, Margie Waits Brooks, Joyce Waits Conner, and James Waits.
During World War II, Marion worked as an inspector for the Navy; and afterwards, she was the manager for Ezell’s Five and Dime in Monticello. She was a member of the Monticello Baptist Church. Marion was an avid gardener, and she won the 1956 Georgia State Fair Flower Show for her seventeen and a half inch football mum. She was one of the best cooks in Jasper County; and an avid football fan, especially the UGA Bulldogs.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Judy (Lew) Aiken of Lebanon, Tenn., Tommy (Linda) Brooks of Newnan, David (Gail) Brooks of Milledgeville, Kathy Lynch of Athens, and Jimmy (Sara) Josey of Milledgeville; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous cousins including Bobbie Jean Ozburn of Monticello.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at Hebron Cemetery. Dr. Robert Whitmire will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at Jordan Funeral Home.
