Mr. Willie Paul Smith Jr.

Mr. Willie Paul Smith Jr., 74, of Monticello passed away October 13, 2016.

Mr. Smith was born to Mother Alberta Goosby Smith and Mr. Willie Smith Sr. on October 13, 1942 in Jasper County. Mr. Smith loved sports and all of the Atlanta teams, he also loved the outdoors and spending time with his family.

Mr. Smith served in the U.S Army for over two years, and was Honorably Discharged and returned to Atlanta to live and start his family. He worked for the Hapeville Postal Service for years and retired at IRS.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a son, Jason Smith (Contey) of Lawrenceville; three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Standifer (Erskine) of Eatonton, Mrs. Martha Thurmond of Monticello, and Evg. Barbara Smith of Conyers; five brothers, Ulysses Smith ( Janet) of Hopes Mill, N.C. Hulon Smith (Regina) of Milledgeville, Kelvin Jackson of Covington, Richard Jackson of Monticello, Derwin Jackson (Jackie) of Monticello; a grandchild, Sarai Smith of Lawrenceville.

A wake service will be held Thursday Oct. 20, 2016 at Springfield Baptist Church from 6-8 p.m. and private interment to follow.

Pastor Preston Campbell will officiate.
