TOTAL LOSS

The home of Anjanette Wood on Eagle Drive in Turtle Cove was destroyed by fire Thursday after a fire broke out in the garage. Firefighters were dispatched at 2:59 p.m., and the first truck arrived at 3:09 and the house was fully involved.
Six apparatus from Jasper County responded, and mutual aid was called from Butts County. Engine 3 and Tanker 3 from Monticello, Engine 1 and Squad 1 from Jackson Lake, and Squad 7 from Farrar along with Medic 1, responded. Eventually 10-12 volunteer firemen were on scene. Two engines from Butts County and the fire chief responded.
The fire was not completely extinguished about 8:30 p.m. Firefighters battled the fire in the 90+ degree heat. Four people lived in the home, and it was covered by insurance.
