Taylor F. Pompey
A celebration of life for Taylor Francis Pompey, 52, was held on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, 837 Hillsboro Street in Monticello.
Mr. Pompey began his journey of life on October 31, 1963, to Josephine Parker Pompey and the late Taylor Pompey in North Charleston, S.C. Taylor entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, at his home in Monticello, at the age of 52. Taylor was known to his family and friends as “Francis.”
Francis had been joined in marriage for 30 years to Martha “Mollie” Pompey, and to this union three phenomenal sons were born; Francis Jerard, Ra’Shead Shakaer, and Keri Bernard Pompey.
Francis graduated from Garrett Morgan High School in 1982, joining the United States Air Force shortly thereafter. In his duties, he was afforded the opportunity to travel and see the world. After leaving the military, he obtained an associate of science degree in Aircraft Maintenance. He maintained this career path for 28 years.
Along with his wife and children, he leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother, Josephine L. Pompey, three siblings and their spouses; Sheldon and Pamela Pompey, Carla and Jerome Bennett, and Samuel and Mandy Pompey; his mother-in-law Annie Mary Clark; other brother- and sister-in-laws; Willie Thurman, James and Carrie Grier, Evan and Patricia Clark, and Charles and Ida Lowe; aunts and uncles, Erline G. Howell, Odessa P. Rose, Essie Clark, Alphonzo Parker, Samuel Green, Walter S. Howell, and Harris Lee Green; cherished cousins Derrick Pompey and Wyley Manning, Jr. He also leaves to cherish his memories, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
