Mary Elizabeth Jones McMichael

Mary Elizabeth Jones McMichael, age 96, of Macon, formerly of Monticello, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016, at her residence.

Mary Jones McMichael was a lifelong resident of Monticello. Her parents were the late Otis Parks Jones and Lucy Olivia McElhenney Jones.

Before retirement, Mary worked as a clerk for the U. S. Forest Service through the Older Americans Council for 19 years. She was a member of Project Linus and the Busy Bees sewing club.

Mary McMichael moved to Macon in 2005, to live with her daughter, Olivia. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church; and attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Macon and St Innocent Orthodox Church in Bolingbroke.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, French Brown McMichael; and sisters and brothers, Lucille Jones, Louise Jones, Otis Vinson Jones, Lucy Lurleen Hardy, Jackson Eugene Jones, Lillian Catherine Gardner, Louis Delynn Benett, and Benjamin Gladstone Jones.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Alice Olivia McMichael of Macon; son, Samuel Parks (Ruthie) McMichael, Sr. of Gray; grandchildren, Alice Lynn McMichael of East Lansing, Michigan and Samuel Parks (Erin) McMichael, Jr. of Haddock; great-grandchildren, Samuel Parks McMichael, III, and Linley Elise McMichael; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 8, 2016, at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held in West View Cemetery. Rev. Andy Oxford and Father Theophan will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Parks McMichael, Mike Caldwell, Tony Wild, David Leach, John Newberry and Dirk Motzkus. Honorary pallbearer will be William Cooper.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m., Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Jordan Funeral Home.
