Loraine Waits Allen

Loraine Waits Allen, age 85, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, July 23, 2016.

Loraine Allen was born on December 17, 1930, in Hillsboro, Ga., to the late Elvin Levosia “Jack” Waits, Sr. and Jessie Mae Couch Waits. She married Harold Louis Allen in 1948, and moved to Mansfield; he preceded her in death in 1976.

After she met Harold, she started attending New Rocky Creek Baptist Church, and joined in 1947, at the age of 17. She loved her church and church family; reading Christian books; collecting and cooking different recipes; and talking to her childhood friends. But most of all, she loved her family.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Elvin Levosia “Junior” Waits, Jr.; and sisters, Linda Mae Waits Poole and Rachel Elizabeth Waits Farner.

She is survived by her children, Wayne (Gayle) Allen of Covington, Dianne (Gary) Hipps of Mansfield, Denise Stubbs of Covington, Twyla (Scott) Keiser of Dacula, and Connie (Dennis) Craft of Covington; grandchildren, Wayne Allen, Jr., Sam Allen, Luke Allen, Jessi Fain, Randy Allen, Kaci Marks, Amy Owens, Noah Hipps, Caleb Hipps, Rickie Stubbs, Kim Stubbs, Lori Lubin and Aubrey Joseph; and sisters, Deborah Jane Washington of Jackson, Joan Hortman of Byron, and Carol Cooksey of North Augusta, S.C.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at New Rocky Creek Baptist Church in Mansfield. Interment was held in Hebron Cemetery. Dr. Randal Reese and Dr. Rickie Stubbs officiated.

Serving as pallbearers were her grandchildren.
