Officers Investigate Thefts
Officers with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) investigated four incidents of theft in the county in the last week.
They included a theft by taking of undisclosed items at Edwards Mobile Home Park near Shady Dale, and the theft of two weed eaters and a chain saw at an address on Hwy. 11 south. In addition, two motorcycles were reported stolen from an address on Post Road, and money was taken from an address on Hwy. 16 west.
The following people were booked into the Jasper County Detention Center on the listed charges in the last week:
•Kayla Marie Bedingfield, 23, Monticello—Jasper County Magistrate Court failure to appear bench warrant.
•Shirley Jean Suttles, 57, Monticello—aggravated assault.
•Kenneth Perry Cochran, 37, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than an ounce.
•Steven James Barker, 51, Forest Park—probation violation.
•Natasha Nicole Newton, 32, Lithonia—forgery in the first degree, possession of Schedule II controlled substance, drugs not in original container, manufacture/sale/ distribution of false ID documents.
•James Alvin Brake, 40, Monticello—theft by taking.
•Tyson Neal Carnes, 30, Covington—probation violation.
•Jeffery Lee Perkins, 47, Conyers—possession of marijuana less than an ounce and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
•Daniel Austin Needham, 17, Covington—operation of vehicle without current plate and fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer.
•Zackery Todd Crumbliss, 17, Monticello—operation of vehicle without current plate and fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer.
•Troy Lee Dowdy, 36, Covington—probation violation.
•John Robert Dempsey, 41, Monticello—battery.
In all, deputies responded to some 340 calls for service, including 79 stopping suspicious person or vehicle, 53 911 service calls, 18 premises check, 17 serve civil papers, 14 each alarm and subject needs officer, six pick-up prisoner/subject, five each theft by taing VIN verification, juvenile problem, trouble unknown, and serve warrant, and numerous other types of calls.
