LAW ENFORCEMENT APPRECIATION

To show their appreciation for local law enforcement officers, Londa Champion of Shady Dale, and others throughout the county have joined together to let the officers know they are appreciated.

Mrs. Champion created an event on Facebook, originally planning to do a dinner or a basket of goodies for the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. She immediately got lots of support, and numerous ideas for what would work. She talked with the sheriff and others at the office, learning how the different shifts work. After her research, Mrs. Champoin determined to take several goodie baskets to the office, enough to cover all the officers as well as the support staff.

She and Amanda Davis, also of Shady Dale, are shown with Sheriff Donnie Pope as they make the first donation. Mrs. Champion has been overwhelmed by the support she has received. Persons wanting to help may drop off individually packaged items or money at Mattison’s BP on Greene Street or Maritsa’s Place on Venture Court. Mrs. Champion may be contacted at 706-816-9363.
