Drug Arrests Are Made

Last Tuesday, July 5, officers with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kristen Autumn Biddy, 22, Milton James Jeffery, 26, Deborah Faye Lyon, 59 and Kent Anthony Miller, 32, all of Monticello.

These arrests were made in the parking lot of the A-1 foods store on Forsyth St. and were the result of a narcotics investigation targeting the sale and distribution of methamphetamine in Jasper County.

Their charges include sale of methamphetamine, use of a communication facility to facilitate a narcotics transaction, and possession of prescription pills not in the original container.

Other arrests made in the last week include:

•Demarcio Stodghill, 32, Jackson—criminal damage to property and criminal attempt to commit a misdemeanor.

•Dee Dee Marie Harbin, 29, Monticello—disorderly conduct and open container.

•Joshua Noel Bradford, 31, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•Davian Donyae Taylor, 38, Morrow—possession of marijuana less than an ounce.

•James Roy Grindle, 37, Oxford— probation violation.

•Jay Cecil Montgomery, 47, Covington—improper right turn and driving while license suspended.

•Jimmy Dean Reed, 30, Covington—possession of marijuana less than an ounce.

•Matthew Guy Stephenson, 31, Monticello—theft by taking.

Deputies responded to several reports of burglary during the week, including cash taken from an address on Hwy. 16 west and from an address in town on Spruce Street. Tools were taken from a residence on Dolly Drive in Monticello. Jewelry and cash were taken from an address on Barnes Mountain Road, a theft that reportedly occurred a month ago, but was jut now reported. In addition, a burglary was reported on Liberty Drive, and another on Cason Road, those two a day apart, on July 6 and 7.

Deputies responded to a report of financial transaction card fraud at an address on East Washington Street.

In all, officers responded to more than 400 calls for service, including 72 stopping suspicious person or vehicle; 25 premises check, 19 serve civil papers, 18 roadway hazard, 14 pick up prisoner or subject; 13 serve civil papers, nine alarms, eight vandalism/damage to property, and numerous other types of calls.
