Ross Hays Qualifies

J. Ross Hays qualified to run for County Commission District 3 during the independent qualifying period last week.

Mr. Hays is challenging incumbent Republican Commissioner Gene Trammell. They will face off in the November election.

Mr. Hays filed the appropriate paperwork and the required number of signatures to be an independent candidate on the ballot.

Clerk of Courts Dan Jordan also runs as an independent, but is not required to get signatures every election cycle.

No other candidates qualified locally for any positions as independent, so the only that commission race is the only contested one.

The District 5 race was contested in the Republican primary, but no Democratic or Independent challengers are running.
