People Are Sentenced on Motion Day

It was a long day in Jasper Superior Court last Tuesday as Judge E. Trenton Brown, III, presided over the motion day and arraignment calendar cases.

Marilyn Ann Armstrong was sentenced to five years in confinement as a result of judgements on two separate criminal cases. For concealing a sexual offender, she was sentenced to five years with credit for time served since August 2013. The second sentence runs concurrent to the first, for which she was given 10 years but will serve two in confinement, also with credit for time served since June 2016, on a charge of possession of methampheamine with intent to distribute. The remainder of the sentence will be served on probation. A charge of possession of drug related objects was nolle prossed and she was fined $2,000.

Taylor Meagan Jones was also sentenced for dual criminal cases last week. For the first case involving possession of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance, both with intent to distribute, she was sentenced to six years in confinement with the first 120-180 days to be served in a detention center and the remainder on probation.

On the second case involving possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana, she was sentenced to three years of probation which will run concurrent to the first case. Fines total $2,500.

Micheal Andrew Livers was sentenced to five years on probation for manufacture of marijuana, possession of marijuana, and obstruction of an officer. A charge of possession of methamphetamine was nolle prossed. Fined $1,500.

During the arraignment portion of the Jasper Superior Court calendar the following sentences were handed down:

Wilburn Lee Knight, sentenced to 15 years with five to serve in confinement for failure to register as a sex offender. He was given credit for time served since July 2015. The remainder of the sentence will be served on probation and fines totaled $1,000.

Matthew Bryan Jackson, sentenced to 24 months in Jasper County jail for criminal trespass, and two counts of obstruction of an officer. He is credited with time served since July 2015.

Ramon Arturo Jackson, sentenced to 90 days in Jasper County jail with the remainder of a 12 month sentence served on probation for sexual battery.

Robert Edward Hardy, sentenced to five years of probation for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Mandy Ruth Johnson, sentenced to three years of probation for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and disorderly conduct. Fined $800.

Kaylin Nicole Tulp, sentenced to 12 months of probation for disorderly conduct. Fined $300.

Olivia Northeas Jackson, sentenced to 12 months of probation for giving false information to a law enforcement officer and driving without a license. Fined $400.

Craig Clifton Johnson, sentenced to 12 months of probation for battery, family violence. Fined $500.

Robert Edward Hardy, sentenced to 12 months of probation for hindering apprehension or punishment of a criminal.

Judge Brown also reviewed a bond order for Jesse Ruark. The bond was set at $10,000 for an aggravated stalking charge.

Pretrial diversions were set for Bonnie Booth, Daniel Cronan, and Jonathan Wilson, Jr. with each on probation for three months paying $40 monthly and performing community service hours.
