Mary Jackson Haizlip

Mary Jackson Haizlip of Blairsville, Ga., formerly of Milledgeville, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2016, surrounded by her family, friends, and loyal pets.

Mrs. Haizlip was born on October 10, 1943 in Kingsport, TN. She was a graduate of East Tennessee State University where she obtained a degree in nursing. She was a long-time hospice nurse, a calling she truly loved. Mary was a kind, compassionate person who touched the lives of many patients and families. She was happiest when digging in the dirt, sharing time with her family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace T. and Sara P. Jackson; and her son, Michael Steven McGuire.

Mary is survived by her husband, Richard Haizlip of Blairsville; daughters, Lisa Huffman, Mary Catherine McGuire, Gina Richards, and Elizabeth McCrary; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Jordan Funeral Home in Monticello, from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016, 11 a.m., at Monticello Baptist Church.

The family wishes to thank Heartlite Hospice of Ellijay, and Pine Point Hospice of Macon, for their excellent care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heifer International, The Salvation Army of Central GA (Macon) or Pine Point Hospice in Macon.
