Emmie Lula “Lou” Hunnicutt Tillman

Emmie Lula “Lou” Hunnicutt Tillman, age 79, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

Lou Tillman was born in Juliette, Ga., to the late Willie Jim Hunnicutt and Grace Pritchett Hunnicutt. She lived in Savannah, and returned to Juliette, where she met and married Molden Tillman; and moved to Hillsboro in 1972. They recently celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on May 6, 2016.

Lou Tillman worked for Monticello Manufacturing until its closing. She and Molden owned and operated Tillman’s BBQ for a number of years. She loved working in the garden and planting flowers. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She spent many days caring and making picture books for each. She also loved spending time with her sisters.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Dewey Hammond; son, Steven Allen Hammond; and sister, Edna McGee.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Molden Tillman of Hillsboro; daughter and fiancé, Deborah “Debbie” Hammond Leggett and Robert Boyd Perry of Milner; step-daughters, Felicia Thomson and Sonja Knowles of Eatonton, and Belinda Brantley of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Lauren Dorough, Rachel Bailey, Ben Brantley, Dwayne Dalton, Richard Knowles, Tabatha Frost, and Elicia Manken; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Dorough, Ashley Dorough, Stormy Yawn, Richard “Chase” Knowles, Abigail Manken, Gabriel Yawn, Rebecca Brantley, Benjamin Brantley, Jr., and Trevor Dalton; and sisters and brothers, Gail Cochran and Mary Pritchett of Juliette, Betty Woods of Virginia, and Floyd Hunnicutt and Tommy Hunnicutt of Forsyth.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Hillsboro Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Interment will be held in Fullerton Memorial Gardens in Hillsboro. Rev. Mark Goolsby will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Perry, Wayne Greene, Randy Hunnicutt, Preston Wynens, Harris Scheinman and Donnie Marshall.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2016, at Jordan Funeral Home in Monticello.
