Cougars Excel at State Track Meet

Piedmont Academy athletes ventured to Albany last week for the GISA state meet and returned home with strong showings against the best competition from across Georgia.

The boys 4×100-meter relay team of Ben Davis, Michael Edwards, Mack Brady and Noah Quick was fourth overall. The team ran a 44.66, which was its best performance of the season.

In addition, Amelia Dodson was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in 49.86. Dodson also capped her standout athletic career at Piedmont with a fifth place effort in the shot put with a throw of 26-10.25.

Two freshmen also had big performances on track’s big stage last week in Albany.

Freshman Gracie Hunt was fifth in the 400-meter dash for the Lady Cougars as she ran a 1:06.52 and freshman J.T. Webb earned seventh place for the boys in the shot put with a throw of 36-11.25.
