Several Are Sentenced in Court
Jasper Superior Court convened last Tuesday under the jurisdiction of Ocmulgee Circuit Judge E. Trenton Brown, III.
Several individuals were sentenced to confinement but none as lengthy as Christopher Bachelor who received a combined 15 year sentence for felony charges on two separate cases. In one case, he was sentenced to 10 years of confinement for one charge of operating a chop shop and five years, consecutive to the first charge, for burglary in the second degree.
The second case involved four counts of theft by receiving stolen property for which he was sentenced five years on each but are concurrent to his previous case. He was given credit for time served since April 2015.
Kristopher Armistead was sentenced to five years of confinement but had the first three years suspended upon completion of a long term inpatient substance abuse treatment program at the Palm House with the balance of the sentence to be served on probation. His charges included possession of a firearm by convicted felon, tampering with evidence, obstruction of an officer, possession of marijuana, speeding, failure to stop at stop sign, and open container. Fined $1,300.
Patrick Dean Burnett received 100 days in Jasper County jail for crossing the guard line with unauthorized items.
Alesha Marie Grindle received 90 days in Jasper County jail for obstruction of an officer.
Katie Marie Moore was sentenced to three years of probation for possession of methamphetamine, tampering with evidence, and obstruction of an officer. Fined $1,000.
Quaniesha Sands was sentenced to 12 months of probation for possession of marijuana. Fined $400.
Probation violators and their sentences include:
Scotty Eugene Whitehead, sentenced to one year in Jasper County jail for failure to report to the Eatonton probation office since December 2013 and failure to pay court fines.
Walter M. Carter, 180 days revoked to the Jasper County jail for positive alcohol and drug tests in February 2016. He is credited for 27 days of time served.
Kasey York, 60 days revoked to the Jasper County jail for positive drug tests and committing new offense in Newton County. Credited 54 days for time served and ordered to complete alcohol/drug evaluation within 30 days of release.
Erik Michael Trent, sentenced to 60 days in Jasper County jail for new offense of aggravated stalking and criminal trespass, failure to complete community service, and failure to pay court fines. He was banned from contact with the stalking victim and must complete the family intervention program within six months of release.
Michael Drake Young, 15 days revoked to the Jasper County jail for failure to report to probation office and failure to complete community service. Credited five days for time served.
