Cougars Post Region Win
The Piedmont Academy varsity baseball team continued its winning ways in region play Tuesday defeating Windsor Academy 6-2 in Macon.
Brock Carter turned in another strong pitching performance with 12 strikeouts while allowing just five hits and two earned runs. Carter did not allow a walk.
Trailing 2-1 after the fifth inning, the Cougars (10-6 overall, 5-0 in Region 4-AA) scored four runs in the top of the sixth to take control of the contest.
Wyatt Galloway and Zach Wilson were both 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. Jay Sheets was 2-for-3 and drove in a run and Mack Brady was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Carter was 1-for-3 with run scored.
The Cougars had previously returned to action after spring break on Monday falling to John Milledge Academy 6-1 on the road in non-region play.
The Trojans jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after the first inning and never trailed.
Michael Edwards was 3-for-4 at the plate for the Cougars while Carter, Sheets, Brady, Tyler Mills, Galloway and Nate Miller also contributed offensively.
Brady worked four innings on the pitcher’s mound striking out three and walking three. Edwards pitched the fifth and sixth innings.
