WOMAN DIES

Amanda Lynn Herring was killed last Wednesday, March 16, when she lost control of the car she was driving and wrecked on Hwy. 212 east near Avant Road. Ms. Herring was driving a 2007 Nissan Versa 4S belonging to Terry Van Ray of Monticello, according to the report from the Georgia State Patrol in Madison.
Ms. Herring was traveling westbound on Hwy. 212 when she traveled into the eastbound lane, over corrected, steering to the right and lost control. The vehicle rotated clockwise and began to slide sideways, and after traveling some more hit an embankment. Upon impact, the vehicle overturned onto its driver’s side and struck an oak tree. After striking the tree, the vehicle began to flip end over end on its side, the report said. The driver was ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle eventually came to rest right side up. A passenger in the vehicle, Mark David Ray was injured, but not seriously.
