MS Cougars Defeat Gatewood

Piedmont Academy’s Middle School baseball team recorded an impressive win by defeating Gatewood 13-2 Monday in Eatonton.

Cameron Mobley played a key role in the victory as he pitched five innings. Dylan Coe pitched the final inning.

Mobley also had a bases-loaded double while Dawson Coe had a double and scored two runs. Trent Coots drove in two runs during his first start.

“The whole team played well,” said coach Cameron Vaughn.

The Middle School baseball team split a doubleheader with Bethlehem Christian Academy at home on March 14.

The Cougars won the first game 6-5 before falling 9-7 in the nightcap. The teams played two five-inning contests.

Zach Spivey pitched four innings in the first game with six strikeouts. Dawson Coe pitched one inning with two strikeouts.

At the plate, Mobley and Spivey were both 1-for-2 while Coe was 2-for-3.

Dawson Coe was the starting pitcher in game two working an inning with two strikeouts. Payton Wallace then pitched the next 3.2 innings and recorded four strikeouts.

David Bishop worked the final third of an inning.

Mobley was 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBI while Dylan Coe was 2-for3. Dawson Coe was 3-for-3 and Spivey was 1-for2.

The Middle School Cougars also played a doubleheader against John Milledge at home last Friday falling 3-2 in the opener before winning 2-1 in the nightcap.

Piedmont had the bases loaded on multiple occasions in the first game but could not get enough runs home. Spivey pitched the first game and had five strikeouts. Dylan Coe also had three strikeouts.

In the second game, Mobley worked three innings and had four strikeouts. David Bishop worked the last two innings for the save. Bishop also had two strikeouts.

Mobley also led the team offensively in the second game against John Milledge.
