Lady Cougars Soccer Earns 3-2 Win

Two goals from Haley Tyler and one from Amelia Dodson helped the Piedmont Academy varsity girls soccer team earn a 3-2 win against visiting John Milledge Tuesday.

“It was the best our girls have played this season,” said coach Zach Norris. “We had a great all-around team win and everyone contributed.”

The Lady Cougars (2-2 overall, 1-1 in region) secured the win in the match’s final minute.

The Piedmont boys (1-2 overall, 0-2 in region) battled John Milledge before falling 6-1. Chris Cain scored the lone goal for the Cougars.

“The varsity boys had a good night but ran out of gas toward the end of the game,” Norris said. “We still have some things we need to work out, but we will get better and we will continue to play hard no matter what the score is.”

The Middle School Lady Cougars fell 3-1 to John Milledge Tuesday afternoon. Hannah Tyler scored a goal in the first match of the season for the MS girls.

Piedmont’s varsity soccer teams also traveled to Augusta Prep for the 2016 region opener last week.

Both the Cougars and Lady Cougars were defeated by strong opponents. The Lady Cougars fell 10-0 while the boys were defeated 11-0.

For the boys, goalie Logan Conner was credited with making several saves.
