John Lee ‘Leon’ Tuggle
John Lee “Leon” Tuggle, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at the Monroe County Hospital in Forsyth.
Leon Tuggle was born in Monticello, to the late Robert Frank Tuggle and Iva Sue Williams Tuggle. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Monticello. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister, Robert F. Tuggle, Jr. and Mary June Tuggle Horton.
Before retirement, Leon Tuggle was a forestry technician for the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service. From 1978 until 1986, he and his family moved to Arkansas. From 1986
until 1989, they lived in Tennessee. They returned to Monticello in 1989. After retirement, he worked as a timber consultant.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 110 and a charter member of Piedmont Academy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Virginia McMichael Tuggle of Monticello; daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Keith Daniel of Winder; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Karla Tuggle of Monticello; grandchildren, Ken Daniel, Brian Daniel, Paul Daniel, Glade Tuggle and Lucy Tuggle; and great-grandchildren, Keaton and Phoebe.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2016, at 11 a.m., at Monticello First United Methodist Church. Interment will be held in the Tuggle-Fears Cemetery in Monticello. Rev. Clyde Carter will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Jordan Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ken Daniel, Brian Daniel, Paul Daniel, Glade Tuggle, Billy Ozburn and Tony Wild.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Tuggle-Fears Cemetery Fund, c/o Bank of Monticello P. O. Box 29, Monticello, Ga. 31064; or Piedmont Academy P. O. Box 231, Monticello, Ga. 31064.
