Cougar Soccer Teams Win

Piedmont Academy’s varsity soccer teams recorded their first victories of 2016 against Lake Oconee Academy last week.

The Lady Cougars took a 7-0 win as Caitlyn Young scored three goals and Haley Tyler scored two. Anna Knox and Sara Hammonds both added a goal.

“The girls played really well and played as a team,” said coach Zach Norris.

The varsity boys also took a 2-1 victory on goals by Ian Boyd and Sam Younker.

“I was very pleased to see the players compete as a team as this is the first game for our varsity boys,” Norris said.

Piedmont’s varsity soccer teams will host LaGrange Academy Friday beginning at 5 p.m. and host John Milledge Academy Tuesday beginning at 4:30 p.m.

“Both teams are looking good so far,” Norris said.

The Middle School Lady Cougars are scheduled to play March 3 against Watkinsville Academy but that match was cancelled due to weather. The game will be made up later. The Middle School team will host John Milledge on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
