Trump, Clinton Win Here

Jasper County, much like the state of Georgia, overwhelmingly voted for Donald Trump to represent the Republican Party with 1,205 votes. Jasper voted Hillary Clinton to represent the Democratic Party with 632 votes. Jasper County saw an increase in voters for this Presidential Preference Primary with just under half of the registered voters in Jasper County participating.

Hillary Clinton received 81.44 percent of the democratic vote amongst Jasper voters, while Donald Trump received 48.48 percent of the Republican in Jasper County. Republican Ted Cruz followed Trump with 701 votes, and 28.18 percent of the votes. Bernie Sanders received 133 or 17.14 percent of the Democratic vote against Hillary Clinton.

Jasper County had three precincts open Tuesday for voting in the Presidential Primary election and some 2,484 voters took advantage of those polls. Another 84 voters voted early with absentee by mail and 702 Jasperites voted early in person.

The vote totals by candidate include: for President, Democrat Hillary Clinton 632; Martin O’Malley 5; Bernie Sanders 133; and Michael Steinberg 6.

Vote totals for President, Republican include Jeb Bush 17; Ben Carson 115; Chris Christie 3; Ted Cruz 701; Carly Fiorina 2; Lindsey Graham 1; Mike Huckabee 2; John R. Kasich 67; George Pataki 0; Rand Paul 4; Marco Rubio 371; Rick Santorum 0 and Donald J. Trump 1,205.

For the Monticello precinct, Hillary Clinton had the most votes with 387, followed by Donald Trump with 274 and Ted Cruz with 198.

Trump overwhelmingly took the Martin & Burney district pulling in 391 votes. Ted Cruz followed Trump with 238 votes and then Marco Rubio with 135 votes. Hillary Clinton received 54 Martin & Burney votes and Bernie Sanders received 46 votes.

Trump also prevailed in the Wyatt district with 188 votes. He was followed by Cruz with 124 votes and then Clinton with 71. Both absentee by mail and in person chose Trump with 37 votes and 315 votes respectively.
