Wrestlers Compete at State

Jasper County High School Hurricane senior wrestlers Tyler Seawright (left) and Chris Anglin (right) both finished in fifth place during the wrestling state championships last weekend in Norcorss.

Seawright, in weight class 182 pounds, finished third in the east sectionals to earn the right to compete at state. Anglin, in weight class 220 pounds, also finished third in the east sectionals.

Seawright is a four year leterman with 200 plus wins in four years. He is #3 on the list of all-time for Cane wrestlers, a two time state finisher, one time region champion, and Cane wrestling captain for the last two seasons. He finished 56-5 this season, second in the region, third in east sectionals and fifth in state championships.

Anglin is also a four year letterman with 150 plus wins in four years. He is a two time state qualifier, one time region champion, Cane captain for last two seasons. He finished 58-4 this season, second in the region, third in east sectionals, and fifth in state championships.

JCHS Wrestling Coach Andy Rewis said he was extremely proud of this gifted pair and that their presence and leadership will be sorely missed next season.

The senior wrestlers were joined by their community coach Tony Seawright in the above photo during the state event.

Junior Maximilian Hess, of the 170 pound weight class, served as an alternate to the seniors at state. Hess placed fifth in the sectionals.
