Mrs. Yolanda Carter Head

A celebration of life for Mrs. Yolanda Carter Head was held Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, 837 Hillsboro Street in Monticello.

Rev. Jimmy Horton, pastor and Brother Mark Walker delivered the eulogy.

Mrs. Head was born in Jasper County on October 29, 1955, to the late Charlie Carter and Emma Jean Carter Sands (Earnest Sands). Yolanda departed this life on February 7, 2016.

Yolanda graduated from Monticello High School and attended Crandall College in Macon. During her early years, she joined Springfield Baptist Church where she served and sang in the choir. Later, she became a member of Monticello Church of Christ. Yolanda was best known for her big heart of compassion.

Though she gave birth to only one son, Radregas Jacobs, she mothered many. She demonstrated that compassion by adopting five children and by fostering many others through the Jasper County Family & Children Services as well as some that wondered into her life.

Yolanda was always one that served, whether it was with the Jasper County Police Department or the Get Ahead House. She was a giver above all else. The love of God was very evident in her life by her service and sacrifice for others.

Memories of Yolanda will remain in the hearts of, sons, Radregas Jacobs, Sheldon Carter, Jarvis Carter and Cody Carter of Monticello; daughters, Samantha Carter and Keshana Carter of Monticello; sister: Haronepthia Cameron (Tommy) of Jonesboro; brother: Reginald Carter (Ruby) of Monticello; grandchildren, Morgan Jacobs, Mondrez Jacobs, Ty Jacobs, Patience Carter, Aaliyah Carter, Cadien Carter, Olivia Carter and Kinsley Carter; nieces, Amber Carter and Regina Carter; nephews: Terrence McLaurin, Jeremy McLaurin and Tristan Carter. Also, special friend: Johnny Settles of South Carolina.three aunts, two uncles; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
