Gifts from God

In the book of Genesis, we read about creation. It’s fascinating to see how God created all the wonderful and beautiful things around us. We had it made as God’s children until we started corrupting and adulterating God’s gifts to us.

The struggle between good and bad seems to be a daily struggle. In this struggle, we sometimes forget to simply stop and see God in our daily lives and surroundings and with a thankful heart give Him a special place in our hearts and lives. We need to love for and enjoy what I call the God moments of our day. Below I share with you three God moments I have experienced recently. I hope you enjoy them.

In January I experienced something that few have the opportunity to experience in a day. I experienced sunshine, lightning, thunder, dark clouds, rain, hail, and snow by the time the day was over. What a day! A friend told me that 30 days later we would have snow because it had thundered during the winter. I am waiting to see what happens on February 21st. It’s amazing what God can do with nature in less than 12 hours in a day. I enjoyed this God moment in my life so that I could enjoy His creations.

Two weeks ago as my wife and I traveled down Hwy. 11, I saw in the western sky a beautiful sunset. The clouds were banked up on the left side of my view as if they were mountains and cliffs. To the right of this was a mix of white, reddish-orange light making the scene like an ocean. An occasional cloud in the light made it appear that there were islands on the water. Driving down the road of Hwy. 11 I was blessed by God to see mountains, ocean, and islands from my car.

Now who could have given me such a gift as this, other than God? No one could. I feel as if God created that spectacular scene for me to enjoy and to remind me of His creative powers and His desire to splash special things in our view when He wants us to have a God moment. He did. I saw and I enjoyed. Thank you, God.

Today, I write having experienced yet another God moment in nature. As I headed out the door this morning, snow was falling from the sky. As it landed on my jacket I saw some of the most beautiful snowflakes I have ever seen in my entire life. They were so intricately made as if someone had cut them out and thrown them down from heaven. The snowflakes didn’t melt quickly, so I had a longer than usual time to enjoy staring at their designs. Seeing God at work again, made my day. How good and creative is my Lord. How He loves to create things for my viewing pleasure.

May we all seek to find the God moments around us today, and enjoy each and every one of the moments given to us.
