Praying for Results

In 2018, after working for 20 years in the field of banking and information technology, I left banking to work for an automotive repair shop. I no longer have to drive one and a half to two hours to work.

I now drive roughly 18-20 minutes to work. Forty minute round trips are far better than four hour round trips. My heart goes out to those who still have these commutes in their daily lives. It is not fun by any means.

How is it that a person who went to seminary, became a preacher and a banker, ends up working at an automotive shop? I can explain.

In 2017, my current boss and his wife started praying for a service writer for their business. Likewise, in 2017, I began praying for a job closer to home.

It seemed like the longest 18 months of my life, praying for something that did not appear would ever happen. Then, my brother told me about the automotive shop job. I laughed. I am the least mechanical of the four boys in my family. He insisted that I apply. I did. The rest is history.

For two parties to be praying for the right match took 18 months, but in the end, God brought us together and what a day of rejoicing that was for all three of us. We have a wonderful working relationship and job environment. God listens to prayers. We only have to wait for His answers in His timing.

In 2000, I gave up on ever finding a spouse. I prayed for almost 20 years to no avail, so I thought. As soon as I gave up on finding anyone, my wife came into my life. It was all about God’s timing not my timing. Waiting for the right person was well worth the wait. Thank you God.

What we are experiencing in our lives today seems like it will never end. It will, in God’s timing.

May God bless each of you during this difficult time in our nation. Amen.
