Mary Elizabeth Dennis Apperson
Mary Elizabeth Dennis Apperson, age 92, of Conyers, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at Westbury Health and Rehabilitation Center in Conyers.
Mary Elizabeth Apperson was born in Macon, to the late Edmond Michael Dennis and Maggie Ludell Newberry Dennis. She spent much of her childhood in Hillsboro; and lived in Atlanta for a number of years before moving to Conyers in 1983.
She was an active member and Sunday school teacher for the Millstead Baptist Church in Conyers. She enjoyed researching her genealogy and loved flowers and gardening. She learned to sew at the age of 11 and became an expert seamstress and quilter.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John James Apperson; children, James Edmond Apperson and Robin Norma Apperson Medlin; and sisters and brothers, Louise Dennis Yeaty, Mabel Dennis Reynolds, James M. Dennis and Julian H. Dennis.
She is survived by her daughters, Maxine Apperson (James H.) Cook of Conyers, and Rhoda Apperson (David M.) Bowen of Conyers; daughter-in-law, Joyce C. Apperson of Hampton; faithful God-sent friends, Mike and Judy Bowman; 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home in Monticello. Interment will be held in Providence Baptist Church in Shady Dale. Pastor Glenn Jakes and Rev. Ed Westbrook will officiate.
