13 Receive All-Region Honors

Thirteen Monticello Hurricane football players were recently recognized by the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) for their football efforts in Region 4-AA.

Hurricanes named First Team All Region were Chris Anglin, offensive line; Thomas Deraney, quarterback; Glendon Graybill, offensive line; Jay Johnson, defensive back; Garrett Scroggs, tight end; Jordan Stewart, defensive line; and Jordan Stone, linebacker.

Hurricanes named Second Team All Region were Jamaric Bonner, defensive line; Colton Clay, linebacker; and Austin McCullough, punter.

Hurricanes named honorable mention for the All Region awards were Bryce Crawford, offensive line; Malik Crawford, defensive line; and Tyrin Lawrence, wide receiver.

Head football coach Doug Huff expressed great pride in these young men when these awards were announced. He explained that all of the region coaches vote on the awards at the region meeting after he nominated them.

“I’m proud of these young men for the effort they gave this season and for earning these awards,” said head football coach and athletic director Doug Huff. We had a bit of a tough year, but we are proud of these young men for earning this recognition. We will miss the seniors and their leadership next year, but several of these young men are underclassmen and we look forward to seeing them lead the Hurricanes next year into a new region.”
