Willie James ‘Wig’ Williams
Mr. Willie James Williams was born on June 20, 1950 to Mrs. Mamie Bell Williams and the late Sammie Lee Williams. He departed this life on January 8, 2016.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 14, at New Enon Baptist Church in Godfrey. Rev. Bernard Hamp, pastor, officiated, burial was in the church cemetery. His nephews served as pallbearers, and flower attendants were nieces, grandchildren and friends.
Mr. Williams received his education in the Morgan County School System. After school, he worked for Georgia Pacific and retired after being employed for 40 years. He enjoyed working at home in the yard and playing with his great grandchildren.
His brother, Sidney Williams, preceded him in death.
Survivors in addition to his mother include a devoted wife of 40 years, Mrs. Mirtice Hicks of Shady Dale; a special great-grand, Ja’Nyah Ross; three daughters, Angela (late Marcus) Smith of Madison, Ethel Mae (James) Smith of Covington and Vanessa (Randy) Reeves of Greenville; two brothers, Samuel Williams and Arlanaster Williams, both of Farrar; four sisters, Willie Bell Stewart of Farrar, Fannie Lee Dennis of Monticello, Minister Mary Louise Gude of Hillsboro, and Margaret (Ronnie) Smith of Shady Dale; two sisters-in-law, Minnie Hicks and Annie Smith of Newborn; two aunts, Grace Mae Scott of Conyers and Hattie Horton of Madison, 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Also, two special friends, John and Janine of Monticello.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of arrangements.
