Cougars Fall on the Road

Piedmont Academy’s varsity basketball teams began the second half of the 2015-2016 season Friday with road games against Class AAA John Milledge Academy.

The Lady Cougars fell 45-21 while the varsity boys were defeated 55-19.

In the girls contest, Amelia Dodson led the Lady Cougars with eight points while Matti Smith scored five and Madison McCart finished with four points. Lucy Tuggle scored points and Haley Tyler and Mattie Johnston both made a free throw.

The Lady Trojans took control of the game early leading by 15 points after the first quarter and by 18 points at halftime.

The Piedmont boys were led by Zach Wilson, who scored a team-high seven points. Mack Brady finished with six points while Chandler Burrell was limited to four points. Cameron Hammock added two points.

John Milledge led by just two points after the first quarter but had moved in front by 18 by halftime.

Piedmont’s varsity teams will return to action Friday when they face Briarwood on the road beginning at 6 p.m. The teams will then travel to Newnan on Saturday to play Heritage beginning at 3 p.m. Piedmont will remain on the road Tuesday against Brentwood in Sandersville with varsity games beginning at 6 p.m.
