Frances LaRuth Gordon Tillman
Frances LaRuth Gordon Tillman, age 82, of Hillsboro, passed away on Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon.
LaRuth Tillman was born in Round Oak, to the late William Oscar Gordon, Jr. and Laura Frances Rowland Gordon. She lived in Round Oak during her childhood; and later, moved with the family to Miami and Pompano, Fla. where her family farmed.
She later returned to Round Oak to meet the love of her life, Thomas Tillman, whom she married in 1951. They made their home in Hillsboro, and raised their four children during the years that ensued. They were married for 59 years until his death in 2010.
LaRuth Tillman was an active member of Hillsboro Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and WMU member and director. She served in the community and loved her children unconditionally.
LaRuth had the gift of service as a caregiver and provided care for Thomas during his long bout with Alzheimer’s disease; and with many other family members, siblings, and her children. Her legacy is one of love and caring service to others and she will be greatly missed.
Husband, John Thomas Tillman; brothers, Billy Gordon and John Gordon; and sister, Mildred Jackson preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, William Clayton Tillman (Paula) of Richmond Hill, Donald Alan Tillman (Colleen) of Hillsboro, Patricia Ellen Moore (Tom) of Asheville, N.C. and Anita Carole Maynard (Eric) of Buford; grandchildren Daphne Lacey, Matt Tillman, Dusty Blackburn, Taylor Craft, Jason Tillman, Rebekah Zech, Shannon Hageli, Bobbi Hart, and Cameron Maynard; great-grandchildren Chandler Lacey, Stella Lacey, Clay Lacey, Tanner Lacey, Rhett Tillman, Marshall Tillman, Luke Tillman, Aubrey Cowart, Kaidence Blackburn, McKinley Blackburn, Ansley Tillman, Addison Tillman, Eowyn Tillman, Eden Tillman, T. J. Hageli, Anna Hart, and Ava Hart; and sister, Mary Ellison (Ken) of Marietta.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Hillsboro Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Interment will be held in Hebron Cemetery in Monticello. Dr. Kenneth Z. Ellison will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cameron Maynard, Jason Tillman, Matt Tillman, Dusty Blackburn, Benny Hart, Mark Hageli, and Mike Lacey.
Honorary pallbearers are Bart Jackson, Johnny Gordon, Jeff Gordon, Tony Wild, Larry Jackson, and Brent Ellison.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at Jordan Funeral Home.
