Joseph Everett Edwards, II

Joseph Everett Edwards, II, age 74, of Monticello, passed away December 21, 2015.

After 27 years of service in the U.S. Air Force, Joe retired and began to work for H & R Block in Johnston, S.C. He attended Smithsboro Baptist Church and not only enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly the little ones, but actively attended his grandchildren’s sporting events.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Everett Edwards and his first wife, Mary Parker Edwards.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Sprayberry Edwards, Monticello; mother, Ruby Edwards Lyons, Dunn, N.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Deborah Edwards, Social Circle, Bruce and Susie Edwards, Greenville, S.C., Joseph and Rita Edwards, Alexander, Va.; step-children, Mike and Mary Farmer, Eatonton, Renee and Bill Benzur, Canton, Al and Mary Jo Keel, McDonough, Suzanne and Tres Thomas, Covington; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Wilkins, Ashboro, N.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Loretta & Ronnie Warren, Dunn, N.C.

Funeral services will be held Sunday December, 27 2015 at 2 p.m. at Scot Ward’s Green Meadow Chapel with Pastor Dale Parker officiating; interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
