William Candler ‘Bill’ Duncan, Jr.

William Candler “Bill” Duncan, Jr., age 83, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

William “Bill” Duncan was born in Cedartown, Ga., and raised in Carrollton. His parents were the late William Candler Duncan, Sr. and Mildred Lucile Williams Duncan.

Bill Duncan was a graduate of West Georgia College and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Before retirement of 32 years, Bill worked as an accountant for the Gulf Oil Company.

Bill Duncan lived in Douglasville for a number of years before moving to Monticello in 1992. He attended the Monticello First United Methodist Church.

He was a dedicated outdoorsman and loved sports, hunting, and fishing. He never met a stranger and could carry on a conversation about any topic. The Apt-To-Miss Hunting Club that Bill co-founded will celebrate its 50 year anniversary in January of 2016.

He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Mary Ann Fritz Tyler Duncan of Monticello; children, Debbie Hulsey of Douglasville, Nancy (Nelson) Cullum of Monticello, and Jim (Laura) Tyler of Monticello; grandchildren, Jake Hulsey, T.J. Hulsey, Josh Daniel Tyler Nelson, Heather Tyler, Haley Tyler, and Hannah Tyler; and five great- grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment was in Williams Payne Cemetery. Rev. Nathaniel A. Long officiated.

Serving as pallbearers were Jake Hulsey, Josh Daniel, Tyler Cullum, Barry Fincher, Chuck Massey, Kevin Loyd, Lynn Short, and Antonio Warren. Honorary pallbearers will be the Apt-To-Miss Hunting Club Members.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Monticello First United Methodist Church 651 College Street, Monticello, Ga. 31064.
