Piedmont Wrestlers Return To Mat

Piedmont Academy’s wrestlers returned to the mat for a new season last Saturday facing Community Christian on the road.

“Things went really well,” said coach Alvin Hawkes. “It was good to see some of our inexperienced wrestlers get some mat time. We were missing a couple of wrestlers. Hopefully, we will get everyone back over the next week.”

In varsity action Saturday, Ian Boyd was 1-1 at 132 and Logan Conner was 1-1 at 195. Tanner Coppock also compiled a 1-1 mark at 170. Parker Clark emerged with a perfect 2-0 record in the 182-pound division.

In Middle School action, Trent Coots was undefeated (2-0) at 90 pounds.

In a schedule change, Piedmont will now face Creekside on the road this Saturday, Dec. 12, beginning at 1 p.m.
