JV Cougars Split

Piedmont Academy’s junior varsity basketball teams had the chance to take to the court Tuesday with the boys earning a 64-28 home win against St. George Episcopal.

Sam Wright paced the JV Cougars with 15 points, including seven in the fourth quarter. J.T. Webb also finished in double figures with 12 points.

The game was close after one quarter with Piedmont leading 13-12. The Cougars led 23-17 at halftime and had moved in front 44-28 after three quarters.

Talon Anglin added eight points in a balanced scoring attack while Owen Brady finished with seven points and Tate Marks, Sam Younker and Jackson Waddleton adding six points each. Caleb Coffey made three free throws while Browning Benton made one.

Piedmont’s JV girls team also played St. George Tuesday in a home game but fell 26-18. Hailey Hooper and Gracie Hunt led the team with five points each while Madison McCart, Madison Sanders, Deacon Robinson and Mattie Johnston all scored two points.
