Stone Workman Wins Run-off

In the run-off election held Tuesday in Monticello, Stone Workman was elected Mayor Pro-tem to serve a four-year term beginning in January.

Mr. Workman received 244, or 57.41 percent of the votes cast. Randy Strozier received 181 votes, or 42.59 percent. A third candidate for mayor pro-tem, Alton Standifer, was eliminated in November.

Mr. Workman won by early voting, receiving 138 votes then, and adding on 81 votes Tuesday and 25 absentee by mail. Mr. Strozier received 53 early votes, 36 absentee votes, and 92 votes Tuesday.

Four-hundred twenty-five voters, or 34.5 percent of registered voters exercised their right and voted in the run-off election.
