Happy Thanksgiving!

Tomorrow, Nov. 26, is Thanksgiving, the day we pause to say thanks for all our many blessings. Most of us have so many blessings we don’t know where to start counting, but at this time of year, often the first gift we think of is family.

As we gather with loved ones to overstuff ourselves on the gift of plenty of food, we stop to remember those who are no longer with us, yes, but especially to appreciate those who are here. We also think of those who can’t be with us physically because of distance, but share time with them via telephone, as if they were here.

Those of us who are partaking of turkey and all the trimmings appreciate the gift of taste, and sympathize with those who have ailments that keep them from appreciating taste. Which brings me to the gift of health—thanks be to the Lord that we can physically enjoy the presence of family and friends, good food and good times. There are many bedridden or fighting serious illness.

We often get so wrapped up in our day to day routine, we forget how lucky we are to have the blessings of home, health, family and community. Let’s remember today!
