One Player Gets 13 Right To Win

Jan Lewis said she’s been playing the football contest for at least three years. And, her steadfastness paid off last week when she correctly guessed the winners of 13 of the 15 games listed in the week’s contest.

For her effort, Ms. Lewis picked up a $25 prize from Jan Gaston at Primary Care Center, sponsor of the week. Mrs. Gaston is also a regular contest player, and an Auburn fan. Ms. Lewis picked Auburn to beat Georgia—one of the two games she missed on the contest. The other miss was Piedmont’s loss to Windsor. She had confidence in the Cougars, but they couldn’t pull the win off this time.

Last week’s contest proved to be quite tough, as only Ms. Lewis and one other player, Susan Bower, scored well enough to have their names added to the grand prize honor roll. Two contest players correctly guessed the winners of 11 games listed, and nearly 150 only got 10 or less right.. Of course, 11 right is not enough to make the honor roll..

This week contest players again have a chance to win a $25 prize, this time from Lewis & Malone Heating and A/C Service, sponsors of the week. The winner also gets bragging rights, as well as a chance to win the grand prize of a premium ticket package to the Chick-fil-A/Peach Bowl in Atlanta.

The contest is on page 13. Anyone can play, you don’t have to know football. One player picks by mascots; anther by town the team is from. Just guess, write legibly and submit your entry—in person or by fax—to The News office, 247 West Washington Street, no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 20.
