Jordan Stone was crowned “Mr. Hurricane” by Miss Hurricane Anna Parker during the pep rally on Friday afternoon, after competing in a pageant earlier in the week.
The theme for the homecoming spirit week was “De-throne the Royals,” which the Hurricanes did on Friday evening. As part of homecoming spirit week, each grade level competed for “the most spirited class” by participating in various dress-up days and contests.
The senior class won the best float contest, and the sophomore class won for the best gym decorations. The seniors won the banner contest and the prize for the most canned foods donated for the Jasper County Food Bank, as well as all five dress-up days. Overall, the senior class won the spirit week contest.
The senior and freshmen powder puff football team defeated the sophomores and juniors in the annual fund raising event held following the parade on Thursday.
“Overall this was a great week for us at JCHS,” said principal Mrs. Camille Murner. “The students showed spirit each day by dressing appropriately for the dress-up days, and then that spirit and pride carried over into the homecoming ceremony Friday night. I’m so proud of our student body.”
