Mrs. Fredene Jordan Davis
.A celebration of life for Mrs. Fredene Jordan Davis, who died October 5, 2015, was held Saturday, Oct. 10, at St. James A.M.E. Church in Monticello. Pastor Donna Marie Calix officiated; burial was in South View Cemetery.
Mrs. Davis was born January 5, 1945 to the parentage of Mr. Fred Jordan, Sr. and Mrs. Winnie Rooks Jordan. To this union, six children were born. Fredene was the fourth child.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Winfred Ann Jordan.
At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior while attending Saint James AM.E. Church in Monticello, where she was a full-time pianist. She attended Sunday School and Bible study, and was a faithful steward. Fredene loved the Lord and she loved music. She was a faithful servant as a pianist in many churches. She was educated in the Jasper County School System.
The love of her life was Mr. Richard Davis. They were joined in holy matrimony on August 3, 1965 and lived a wonderful life in Monticello. Two children were born to this union, Freda Y. Davis and Carey G. Davis.
Fredene loved children. The Lord led her to start her own business after working years at the Monticello Manufacturing Company. That business was Kiddie Kampus Day Care Center. Fredene provided care for children in the community for 44 long years.
She was adamant about giving children a firm foundation to start building their lives. She always instilled a love for Christ in them. Mrs. Fredene’s legacy was to love and train each child that entered the doors of Kiddie Kampus. She wanted them to have a home away from home; full of opportunity to learn, good food, and lots of love.
Mrs. Fredene became ill in March, 2014. She battled with an esophagus blockage and rupture. However, she stood strong on the promises of God. She never complained and endured all until the Lord called her home on October 5, 2015.
Fredene leaves to cherish her precious memories a loving husband of 50 years, Mr. Richard Davis; a son, Carey G. Davis (Amey); a daughter, Fred Y. Webb (James); brother, Fred Jordan, Jr. (Juanita); sisters, Betty Jordan Maddox, Judy Whitening and Alice Cotton; a devoted brother-in-law, Harvey Lee Whitening; grandchildren Santrell G. Davis (Tammy Chambliss Davis-mother), Shaquille Davis (Cynthia Jackson Davis-mother), London Webb, Lamesia Davis, and Marquis Davis. Also, a host of beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Her honorary sons are Carl Johnson and John Whidby.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
