Cheer Cougars Improve

Piedmont Academy’s competition cheerleaders showed a marked improvement from their first meet to their second event this season.

The Competition Cheer Cougars took the floor at Putnam County High School last Saturday in Eatonton at the Spirit Spectacular Cheerleading Competition.

When all was said and done, Piedmont had finished first in its division and improved its score from the previous competition by 60 points.

“The girls worked hard over the week and we made several changes to help prepare for the competition,” said coach Tonya Coe. “The girls were ready and focused. I couldn’t have been more proud of their performance.”

Piedmont is scheduled to compete at Gatewood this upcoming Saturday, Oct. 10, for its first GISA only event. Also scheduled to compete will be John Milledge Academy, Loganville Christian Academy, Bethlehem Christian Academy and host Gatewood. The Cheer Cougars will perform at 10 a.m.

Team members include senior Bridgette Phillips, junior Bailyn Whitaker, sophomores Railey Holloway, Sara Hammonds, Caitlyn Young, Emma Kate Edmonds, Sydney Reardon and Taylor Patterson; freshmen Sydney Davis and Meg Collins and eighth grader Morgan Whitley.
