MS Softball Cougars Win

The Piedmont Academy Middle School softball team got back on the winning track Tuesday with a 10-4 home win against Trinity-Sharpsburg.

Fleming Sealy started the game in the pitcher’s circle and worked the first two innings before Kenzie Rodgers closed out the last two.

Rodgers was 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI while Haley Ann Frank had one hit with two walks. Ava Anglin finished 1-for-1 and Sealy drove in two runs.

“We played a good game,” said coach Cameron Vaughn. “We had a really good game at the plate and on the base paths. We were very active on the bases. Defensively, we made the routine plays.”

One of the key defensive plays in the contest came late in the game on a strikeout/throwout by Rodgers and Maddie Waddleton.

Prior to Tuesday’s game, the Middle School Lady Cougars lost to John Milledge Academy 3-1 last week.

Vaughn said Sealy pitched “a great game.”

“We played an outstanding defensive game until the seventh inning,” the coach said.

The game was tied 1-1 going into the seventh when John Milledge managed to push two runs across.

Sealy also had one hit. Katie Matthews was used as a courtesy runners, stole a base and later scored on an RBI by Rodgers.
