B-Team Lady Cougars Win

Piedmont Academy’s B-team softball squad got a chance to gain more playing experience Tuesday afternoon and as a bonus recorded another win

The B-team Lady Cougars defeated Covington Academy 16-3 on the road as several players had standout performances.

Kenzie Rodgers was the winning pitcher working all four innings, striking out five and not allowing any earned runs. Covington Academy managed just one hit against Rodgers.

Maddie Morton was 2-for-4 with three runs while finishing with four RBI. Kylie Garner was 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI with Lucy Tuggle compiling a 1-for-3 performance with two runs and an RBI.

Deacon Robinson and Rylee Owens both scored two runs and Mattie Johnston had an RBI.

“The girls had a good attitude and played hard,” said coach Daniel Funt. “I have been seeing a lot of improvement from the players and they were able to show that on the field. The game was a good opportunity for them to compete.”

Piedmont scored three runs in the top of the first inning before scoring four more in the second, six in the third and three in the fourth.
