City Election Set November 3
Qualifying for the upcoming Monticello City Council election will be held Monday, Aug. 31 through noon Thursday, Sept. 3.
Positions up for election are Mayor Pro-tem, council member District 1, Post 2, and council member District 2, Post 2.
The current Mayor Pro-Tem is Bobby Jacobs. District 1, Post 2 is held by Cornell Williams, and District 2, Post 2, is held by Katherine Alexander.
Mr. Williams Tuesday said he plans to seek re-election, and Mr. Jacobs and Mrs. Alexander said they did not want to commit at this time.
The election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3.
The qualifying fee for Mayor Pro-tem is $216, and the qualifying fee for council members is $162.
Any city resident interested in voting in the election must be registered to vote at a city address by October 5.
