SERIOUS INJURIES

Two people sustained serious injuries in two separate accidents in Jasper County over the holiday weekend. Last Friday, July 3, (top photo) a 1998 Jeep Cherokee driven by Dawn Marie Kuenzl of Conyers collided with a 1996 International 1000 series 15 van driven by Joshua Wilkes Carter of Madison.
Ms. Kuenzl was delivering the U.S. Mail, and Mr. Carter was driving a United Parcel Service (UPS) truck. According to the Georgia State Patrol, Ms. Kuenzl was traveling west on Pitts Chapel Road, and Mr. Carter was traveling east. While negotiating a right curve, the Jeep crossed the center line, where the UPS truck was. He had nowhere to go, so the two vehicles collided.
Ms. Kuenzl sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Mr. Carter had some injuries and was taken by private vehicle to the hospital, according to the GSP report.
On Saturday, July 4, Timothy Thompson of Mansfield, was driving a 1996 Ford pick-up traveling north on Hwy. 11 just above the high school when he passed a vehicle, then when returning to his lane, he ran off the right side of the road, and then crossed to the left side of the road and hit a tree where the truck flipped, the GSP said. Mr. Thompson had to be cut out of the vehicle and was airlifted.
