Fourth of July Concert and Parade

Ella Davis won the award for best float and therefore was the winner of the Snap n Turtle gift certificate in Saturday’s children’s sidewalk parade. Evan Stone was runner up.

The event happened just before the Monticello Community Band presented its annual Independence Day patriotic concert on the lawn at Thomas Persons Hall on College Street.

The festivities began with a flag-raising by the Color Guard of the American Legion, and lots of people set up their picnic tables and decorated them in their red, white and blue for the occasion. Others just brought lawn chairs and listened to the music.

The Monticello Community Band presents three concerts a year—Independence Day, Christmas, and a spring concert. All musicians are welcome to join. The band is made up of old and young, novice and experienced.
