Selma Walters

Selma Walters, 88, of Monticello and former resident of Mt. Vernon, Ill., passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015.

Mrs. Walters lived in Illinois with her husband Billy, who preceded her in death in 1982.

She moved to Monticello four years ago to be close to her only daughter, Dayna Jones.

Selma is survived by her daughter, Dayna and husband Chris Jones of Monticello; granddaughter, Megan and husband, Pat Pecunia, of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; grandson, Mason Jones of Monticello; two great-grandchildren, Clara and Clayton Pecunia; two nieces and one nephew.

Visitation and private graveside services were held May 27-28 at Newell Funeral Home and Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Ill.

Selma’s family extends a heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful staff of Abbey Hospice, caregivers Kim King and Patsy Evans, the kind attention of Dr. Shannon Barton, and Jordan Funeral Home who made her transition back to Illinois for burial next to her husband so smooth.
