Deputies Investigate Accidents, Burglaries

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office investigated a few incidents of burglary in the last week, and responded to some 384 calls for service.
Those calls included 16 accidents, including the one above. In that accident, Kaylee Ruth Ewing of Dacula was traveling in a 2010 Ford Escape on Church Street. After stopping at the stop sign, she pulled onto West Washington Street, striking the 2007 Dodge Caliber driven by John Michael Wilson of Zebulon. The impact caused Mr. Wilson’s car to hit the fire hydrant on the northwest corner, breaking it open. Water spewed everywhere, running as far as Burney Drive, and those on the street may have been without water for several hours. City workers repaired damages, working well into the night.
The burglaries were spread throughout the county, and generally items of limited value were taken.

•Reginald Cordell Sims, 28, Jenkinsburg—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain lane.
•Emoline Celeste Lockhart, 20, Newborn—possession of marijuana less than an ounce and battery.
•John Raymond London, 21, Newborn—possession of marijuana less than an ounce.
•Cameron Ray Slayman, 18, McDonough—probation violation.
•Jonathan Andre Sims, 18, Monticello—operation of vehicle without a current plate and driving without a valid license.
•Marlerio Laquann Malone, 31, Monticello—child support.
•Kenny Leon Strickland, Jr., 30, Monticello—probation violation, criminal trespass, simple battery and cruelty to children.
•Jason Gregory Chambers, 48, Covington—Jasper County Superior Court failure to appear bench warrant.
•Jennifer Lynn Washington, 30, Flovilla—possession of marijuana less than an ounce and open container.
•Emily Ann Hallas, 22, Shady Dale—disorderly conduct.
•Judi Gail Hays, 30, Social Circle—probation violation.
•Kelly Denise Walker, 40, Monticello—aggravated assault.
•Melissa Sherae Moon, 20, Stockbridge—probation violation.
•Alonzo Berand Jefferies, 27, Monticello—child support.
•Ernest Ray Clay, 80, Mansfield—obstruction of a law enforcement officer and battery.
