Freddie Lee Barkley
A celebration of life for Mr. Freddie Lee Barkley was held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at St. James AME Church, 514 Funderburg Drive in Monticello. Mr. Barkley died April 26, 2015. Rev. Donna Marie Calix, pastor, officiated. Burial was in South View Cemetery.
Mr. Barkley was born November 29, 1943, to the parentage of Mrs. Clara Barlow and the late Thomas Wesley Barkley.
His father, Mr. Nathaniel Barlow, and brother, Nathaniel Barlow, Jr., preceded him in death.
Born in Jackson, Big B’s permanent residence was here in Monticello where he lived for 50 years.
The love of his life, Mrs. Annie Jean Barkley also preceded him in death. They were married for 50 wonderful years. To this parentage, two children were born.
Freddie leaves to cherish his memories, loving and devoted daughters, Andrea (Ricky) Barkley of Monticello, Maria Barkley of Griffin, Melissa (Marsha) Crowder of Jackson and Bertivia (Sherodney) Stewart of Locust Grove; loving sons, Thomas Barkley of Monticello, Richard Jenkins (Ithica) of Atlanta, Freddie (Lisa) Barkley, Jr., of Macon, Fredrick (Pam) Barkley of Atlanta, Quaterrion, Jeremy and Corey Barkley, all of Griffin.
Also, brothers, John (Willie Mae) Barkley, James (Sherrion) Barlow and Prentice (Connie) Barlow, all of Jackson; Billy (Marcus) Barlow of Jonesboro; sisters, Toni (Harry) Clark of Jackson and Virginia Berry, Annie Bell Berry and Cal Jean Berry, all of Griffin; 37 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and a very special friends, John “Foxx” Carter. A special “thanks” to Ezzard Davis and all the friends who traveled with Freddie to receive his treatments.
Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
