Nick Adamczyk To Play Soccer at Elon
Piedmont Academy senior, Nick Adamczyk, signed his National Letter of Intent to play soccer for Elon University, Elon, N.C., on February 4. This past Thursday, Piedmont administrators, faculty, Nick’s classmates, family and coaches came together for a signing ceremony in the library.
His scholarship is an athletic award presented by Elon University. The University is a NCAA DI program and is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association. Following his verbal commitment to Elon in August 2014, TopDrawerSoccer.com asked Adamczyk why he chose Elon, “When you do the research, Elon is regularly recognized for its academic excellence and focus on developing their students and that’s what I was looking for in a school.

“Elon has a documented tradition of success on the pitch and I‘m looking forward to be a contributing team member as we compete in the CAA,” he said. “I played against Coach (Chris) Little’s teams in the Academy, like the style of play and feel confident that we’ll able to use my strengths to the team’s benefit.”
Following signing in February, Elon’s Head Men’s Soccer Coach, Chris Little said about Adamczyk, “We’re really excited about Nick, I think he brings a lot of different options for us. An attacking player, he has great pace and energy to his play and he has this general enthusiasm about going about himself on the pitch and we’re real excited about what he can bring. He has some very good leadership qualities as well and tremendous character. We’re very excited about Nick joining us here at Elon.”
Currently, Adamczyk is an attacking midfielder playing for the Georgia United Soccer Alliance’s U-17/18 team in the US Soccer Development Academy and Coach Ignace “Iggy” Moleka. He has played his entire Academy career, 2011 – present, for Georgia United. Prior to this season, Nick was a team captain on the U16 team during the 2013 – 2014 season, a U15 – U16 Academy Developmental Player during the 2012 – 2013 season and a U14 Pre-Academy Player in 2011.
Prior to being chosen to play in the Academy, Nick played for Norcross Soccer Academy (NSA) and Coach Paul Buckley’s 97 Norcross Fury Premier from 2011 – 2013. While with NSA, the team was a 2013 US Youth Soccer Region III Championships Quarter finalists, 2013 Georgia State Cup Finalist and 2012 Georgia State Cup Semi-Finalist. In addition to playing club soccer and before his transition to NSA, in 2009 and 2010, Nick was a Georgia Pool Player in the United States Olympic Development Program.
During the 2012 and 2013 seasons and prior to his Academy commitment, Nick played two years of high school soccer for Piedmont. While playing for the Cougar’s, they were 2012 GISA 2A State Semi-Finalists and participated in the 2013 GISA 2A State Tournament. During his time playing for Piedmont, Nick was the 2013 Varsity Captain and starting attacking center midfielder, GISA AA All-State and 1-AA All-Region Men’s Teams, Scholar Athlete 2012 – 2013, Offensive Player of the Year and leading scorer with 25 goals and eight assists; 2012 varsity freshman, starting attacking center midfielder, GISA AA All-State and 1-AA All-Region Men’s Team and Most Valuable Player as well as leading scorer with 19 goals and 21 assists. He was coached by Dwaine and Jake Landress. Last year, Adamczyk was a 2014 Wendy’s High School Heisman Nominee.
